Love, Kindness, Friendship & Fun
With your help, each month, we’re able to donate 10p from the sale of each Ultimate monthly box to a different animal sanctuary or vegan cause. We especially love being able to help the smaller sanctuaries who don’t have as much funding. September’s box is proud to be supporting the Karass Sanctuary based in Scotland. We asked them to tell us more about the sanctuary…
The Karass Sanctuary for Farmed Animals just outside Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway is home to more than 70 animals rescued from the human food system. It is very important to us to provide sanctuary to those we can, but with the best will in the world we can offer that to very few. With that in mind, the primary role of the Sanctuary is to be somewhere people can come and meet species they have perhaps never had the chance to meet before, to get to know them and their individuality; to allow people to find out who farmed animals really are in order that they can then make informed decisions about the relationship that they want to have with them, and perhaps for the first time be able to be true to their own kindness.
We are run by volunteers and rely on the kindness and support of people who share our view that every one matters, that their reality is as real as ours, and that there is another way.
We are open to the public and operate an open-door policy. We are also home to the UK’s only purpose-built, multi-species animal hospice, The Maggie Fleming Animal Hospice, and visitors to the Sanctuary can also meet some of our terminally-ill residents who are spending their final days, weeks or months with our family here at the Hospice and the Karass and share in making their final steps full of love, kindness, friendship and fun.
If you would like to donate to Karass you can do so here.
